CAP / GEO

Charts, terrain and tracks — served from inside the wire.

In short

A maritime common operating picture needs its charts, bathymetry and terrain served fast and locally, on a network that may have no route to the internet at all. Varuni Systems builds the geospatial and tile infrastructure for exactly that: S-57 charts, GEBCO bathymetry and SRTM terrain served as map tiles from your own servers, with AIS, radar and ADS-B fused over the top — the same open-source stack behind our defence and smart-city work.

How we do it

The technical approach.

Open-source foundations are precisely what let this run air-gapped.

TIL

Self-hosted map tiles

Vector and raster tiles served from your own infrastructure — the browser is the client and every tile comes from inside the perimeter, so the picture works with no route to the internet.

CHT

Real charts, bathymetry & terrain

S-57 electronic navigational charts, GEBCO bathymetry and SRTM terrain — the actual hydrographic and elevation data a plot has to be grounded in, not a decorative basemap.

FUS

Live track fusion

AIS, radar, ADS-B and sensor feeds resolved into single tracks over the chart, on PostGIS and TimescaleDB — one source of truth, not four overlays.

OSS

Open-source, no lock-in

PostGIS, GeoServer and web mapping throughout — the client owns the stack and the data, with no per-seat GIS licence and no mandatory cloud.

MVT

Dedicated vector-tile server

Unconfirmed — verify

A dedicated vector-tile server (e.g. Martin) for high-throughput PostGIS tiling. [UNCONFIRMED — verify the specific tile-server component before publishing.]

Frequently asked

Straight answers.

Can your maritime GIS run fully air-gapped, with no internet?

Yes — that is the point of the design. Every tile, chart, bathymetry and elevation layer is served from the client's own infrastructure, so the whole picture works on a network with no route to the internet.

What chart and terrain data do you support?

S-57 electronic navigational charts, GEBCO bathymetry and SRTM terrain, served as tiles from inside the perimeter and used as the real spatial ground for planning and tracking.

Is it built on proprietary GIS or open source?

Open source throughout — PostGIS, GeoServer and web mapping — which is exactly what lets it run on a closed network and keeps the client owning the stack, with no per-seat licence.

Can it fuse live AIS, radar and ADS-B feeds?

Yes. Those feeds are resolved into single tracks over the chart on PostGIS and TimescaleDB, giving one shared operating picture rather than several unreconciled overlays.

Why Varuni

Why work with us on this.

Full stack, one team

Hardware, firmware, DSP, software and geospatial under one roof in India — so a system crosses from transducer to screen without an integration seam for anyone to point fingers across.

Built for a working prototype, fast

Engagements start with a scoped prototype in weeks, not a multi-year programme — the fastest way for an overseas buyer to judge the capability is to see it run against their own problem.

Sovereign and on-premise by default

Everything runs on the client's own hardware and network, air-gapped where required, with no mandatory cloud and no data leaving the perimeter. Source and IP terms are agreed per engagement.
