CAP / SIM

Sonar training that fails the way the sea does.

In short

A sonar operator learns to read a display under pressure, and that judgement can only be trained against a model that behaves like the real ocean. Varuni Systems builds naval sonar and multi-sensor simulators — passive and active sonar, radar, ESM and communications — with an instructor driving a live scenario and every decision replayable in debrief, all on a network that never has to touch the internet.

How we do it

The technical approach.

The trainer is only as honest as the physics underneath it — which is where our simulation core comes from.

SON

Passive & active sonar models

Sonar modelled against the propagation physics that governs it — sound speed, layers, bottom and sea state — so a bad search plan fails the way it would at sea, not because a lookup table said so.

MSN

Multi-sensor picture

Sonar exercised alongside radar, ESM/EW, AIS and communications, because an operator's real task is fusing them, not reading one in isolation.

INS

Instructor-driven scenarios

The instructor controls the scenario live — injecting contacts, changing the environment, raising the pressure — while trainees detect, classify, decide and act against it.

AAR

After-action review

Every contact, classification and engagement is recorded and replayable, so the debrief argues from the track, not from memory.

DET

Deterministic, reproducible core

The same scenario run again unfolds identically, so a trainee's outcome turns on their decisions and an analyst can trust a result is the model's, not the machine's.

Frequently asked

Straight answers.

Do you build naval sonar training simulators?

Yes. Our ASTT tactical trainer and our dedicated equipment simulators model passive and active sonar alongside radar, ESM and communications, for operator, watchkeeper and command-team training. Both are in service.

Is the sonar modelled physically, or is it a canned playback?

It is modelled against real propagation physics — sound-speed structure, layers, sea state and bottom interaction — so the sensor's performance changes with the environment and the search plan, rather than replaying a fixed recording.

Can the simulator run on an air-gapped training network?

Yes. It is browser-based with no cloud dependency and no telemetry, and runs entirely inside the training network — a warship or shore school does not have to install a client or reach the internet.

Can it scale from one trainee to a networked classroom?

Yes — from a single station to a networked multi-cubicle exercise with instructor and debrief stations, and WAN support to bring distributed or at-sea participants into the same scenario.

Why Varuni

Why work with us on this.

Full stack, one team

Hardware, firmware, DSP, software and geospatial under one roof in India — so a system crosses from transducer to screen without an integration seam for anyone to point fingers across.

Built for a working prototype, fast

Engagements start with a scoped prototype in weeks, not a multi-year programme — the fastest way for an overseas buyer to judge the capability is to see it run against their own problem.

Sovereign and on-premise by default

Everything runs on the client's own hardware and network, air-gapped where required, with no mandatory cloud and no data leaving the perimeter. Source and IP terms are agreed per engagement.
